About Us

HOD’s Desk

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways. The Civil Engineering Department of Narayanaguru College of Engineering was started in the year 2009 and M.E Structural Engineering was started in the year 2013. We offer an Undergraduate programme in B.E. Civil Engineering and Post graduate programme in M.E. structural Engineering. The aim is to educate, train and develop highly skilled Civil Engineers at all levels capable of designing, constructing and maintaining environmental – friendly infrastructures. The department has grown from strength to strength from its inception and currently having 20 well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty with PG degree specialization in all inter-disciplines of Civil Engineering. Experienced and well-qualified faculty members, well-equipped laboratories and workshops are the strengths of this department. Advanced licensed software includes AutoCAD, StaadPro, and ANSYS are available to students to take up real time projects. We have a department library with 719 books which can be easily assessed by department students and faculties. The department is equipped with ICT facilities in all classrooms.

Infrastructure

  • Department Library

In a large space, the Department Library houses 719 volumes with more than 305 titles. The books explore all aspects of Civil engineering, as well as new technologies.

ü  Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory

50 ton capacity loading frame is used in this lab. This laboratory course students will be able to cast and test RC beams for strength and deformation behaviour. They will be able to test dynamic testing on steel beams, static cyclic load testing of RC frames and non-destruction testing on concrete.

  • Construction Materials Laboratory

The students will have the required knowledge in the area of testing of construction        materials and components of construction elements experimentally.

  • Surveying Laboratory

Students completing this course would have acquired practical knowledge on handling basic survey instruments including Theodolite, Tacheometry, Total Station and GPS and have adequate knowledge to carryout Triangulation and Astronomical surveying including general field marking for various engineering projects and Location of site etc.

  • Strength Of Materials Laboratory

The students will have the required knowledge in the area of testing of materials and components of structural elements experimentally.

  • Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory

The students will be able to measure flow in pipes, determine frictional losses, and develop characteristics of pumps and turbines.

  • Soil Mechanics Laboratory

Students are able to conduct tests to determine both the index and engineering properties of soils and to characterize the soil based on their properties..

  • Water And Waste Water Analysis Laboratory

On the completion of the course, the students will be able to Quantify the pollutant concentration in water and wastewater, Suggest the type of treatment required and amount of dosage required for the treatment and Examine the conditions for the growth of micro-organisms.

  • Highway Engineering Laboratory

The student knows the techniques to characterize various pavement materials like aggregate and bitumen through relevant tests.

  • Irrigation And Environmental Engineering Drawing

The student shall conceive, design, and draw the irrigation and environmental engineering structures (Municipal water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, and irrigation structure)  in detail showing the plan, elevation, and Sections.

Events

Industrial Visit

Industrial visit has its own importance in a career of a student who is pursuing a professional degree. With an aim to go beyond academics, industrial visits provide students a practical perspective on the world of work. It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods, and employment practices. The main aim of industrial visit is to provide an exposure to students about the practical working environment. They also provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about industrial practices.

All the students are coordinated to go for an Industrial Visit every semester to companies that are relevant to the topics being learned in that semester. Some of the companies visited by our students are,

Inplant Training

Inplant training is an essential entity for students who are doing an Engineering degree. There are a lot of differences between what students learn from college and what is happening in the industry. In Plant Training provides an industrial exposure to the students as well as to develop their career in the high-tech industrial requirements. This would not only help them boost their confidence but also will improve their work efficiency.

All the students of our department are instructed to undergo Inplant Training in companies during semester vacations.
